Not what the trailer makes you expect, not a game that will shake you to your core, but another solid argument for the video game as an interactive storytelling medium.. good walking simulator i like these type of games if you don't wouldn't recommend you to give it try.. Draugen is a great (albeit relatively short) story focused adventure game in league of Dear Esther and Firewatch. It's set in the rustic village of Graavic in 1928. The game emphasize this with a black and white mode (1928 mode that I ofcourse use for full authenticity). The normal colored mode is also cool as it uses pastel-like colours to depict the antic mood of the game. The only thing that I miss in the "fjord noir" mode is that the sound will be on narrow bandwith like a very old tv set if you set it to black\/white :)You're Edward Harding and you look for your missing sister Betty who wandered off to Norway. Lizzy, companion, jump-in-the-field side kick and game mechanic extraordinaire is adding another dimension to this game.Lizzy is playful and mischievous but also tethers to you in a way that she is a secondary angle to the story as you explore the house and vilage of Graavik. She upgrades the experience of the game in such a way that she reminds me of Elizabeth in Bioshock, minus the steampunk and shooting ofcourse but the character's dynamic interplay equals the mistery, liveliness and sense of autonomy you get from Bioshock's Elizabeth. And becaus she's so jumpy and goes all over the place to drive the story it's nice to have an accessibility feature where you will see her soundwaves from afar when she calls for you (or you call for her, which is a main feature of the game which is later being used in a pretty unique way.The game starts very lighthearted but slowly descends into.....well i'm not at liberty to tell. What I can tell is that the guys from RTG are always able to create a very distinct artistic visual mood in their games. It's an indie game but you can see that the artists come from an AAA background and infuse their exploration game with quality style and the most beautiful scenery. Just like they did with Dreamfall Chapters and TLJ.. Well....I was waiting for this game with excitement. The graphics are very beautiful. The setting of Graavik is so beautiful that I could imagine living there even. They really paid attention to the details to take you to the 1920s in Norway. The sounds of nature, the music wants you to stay here and explore. The voice acting is pretty good, I've recognized Bolton's voice immediately (voice of Kian Alvane in Dreamfall Chapters).Regarding the plot, I realized the "relation" of Edward and Alice quite soon therefore it wasn't a surprise for me - probably it was meant to be discovered early on?However the 3 hours of playtime was disappointing for me. Also, the biggest secret of the village in the end was not even shown, which was also quite disappointing (if it even exists?). Also, even if it was made to seem like that, you have no real choices in the conversations. (I can actually understand why you have no choices, it's your relationship with Alice that makes that impossible, in my opinion.)I feel that I would be much more satisfied if the game would have been longer. The story was too short. That's the only reason why I decided not to recommend this game. I feel that there could have been much more done here. This way it somehow feels incomplete. However, I will not ask for a refund, I really enjoyed those 3 hours. And I'd like to support the developers. But I really hope the next game will be more satisfying.. This game was:- Predictable- Unsatisfying- Where the f was the draug- ANNOYINGThis game was not:- Fun in any way whatsoeverThe game promises dynamic dialogue and a realistic companion. It has exactly none of those. The music was nice. Gr\u00e5vik looks nice. That's it.. Draugen is a walking simulator with a linear story that lasts about 3 hours. The environment of the game is very beautiful and they have used plenty of refrences of old houses and such to how things looked in the 1920s.Story is a bit weird, as it keeps intertwining two stories together. The story is that you are coming to the village "Graavik" to find your sister, but when you arrive there things are not as they should be and you start an investigation with your companion Alice. The stories themself are fine but you can clearly tell which storyline it's put the most effort into, atleast from what i can tell. The ending is a bit lackluster, it's pretty easy to see where it would go pretty fast but the dialouge and what you find on the way to that ending is game, but sadly it feels like it didn't hit hard enough. the ending felt like it didnt really have a conclusive ending to one of the storys and the ending is up to yourself to what you think it will be. Summary The game is a walking simulator that will be done pretty fast but good enviorment, music and tensions from time to time.its a decent game, but i feel like i don't have a reason to replay it, even if i did some of the other choices, which probarly dont have any impact on the ending either way.. Spoiler Free:For those like me who enjoy the immersion of a "Walking Simulator", Draugen is true to form. Edward follows a mystery to an isolated Norwegian village of Graavik and finds a morbid, human tale waiting for him. The story deals with loneliness and loss while having a solid narrative arc.As a person who has played and replayed games like What Remains of Edith Finch and Gone Home, I whole heartedly recommend this game.. Draugen is nothing but a boring story about an american who lost his sister and his demons of being persistently obsessed by her disappearance. This could have been so much more, It tries to be mysterious and scary, but it fails in every aspect. It is simply too kind and linear in its way of telling an already boring story where all you do is look for clues to what happened to the people in this desolate place (By looking, I mean, look for the white ring popup and click them all. The title have nothing to do with the story and even his lost sister does not quite fit in with what happened to the residents that have mysteriously disappeared. I find it hard to believe I spent 20 Euro for 3 hour gameplay on a game that has no replay value at all. Very disappointing. I would not recommend this to anyone.. Predictable? Pretty much, yes.But since when that is necessarily a bad thing?Barely any true gameplay? Guess so.But this game isn't about that. Walking sims rarely are, when you think about it.Questionable ending? Some may say so.But sincerely? This game was never about how its story ends.Nope. The way I see it, it was all about its characters. All of which are extremely well written, designed and voiced (Lissie especially). Honestly? If you focus solely on them, you are in for a treat. It's been some time since I last saw characters that truly intrigued me, as the ones in a good book do. It's what you will find here. In this era of never-ending FPS shooters and online multiplayer with barely any decent story, this is something I really missed. It's why this, here, is truly a gem.As I said before: this game was hardly about how it ends. It's about what it starts. Can hardly wait to see Edward and Lissie in another adventure. ^^
